XL SOCCER WORLD

INDOOR SOCCER RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

The rules and regulations at XL Soccer World have been devised with simplicity, continuity, and enjoyment in mind.  Apart from some necessary modifications, they are the same as FIFA rules used worldwide in outdoor soccer.  The following exceptions apply:

 

REGULATIONS:

 

1. All players must sign the XL Soccer World Waiver Exclusion Clause or the XL Soccer World Team Roster Form.

 

2. Participation in the XL Soccer World is entirely at the player’s risk, and we accept no responsibility for any direct or consequential loss, damage, or injury. 

 

3. Teams will consist of five (5) field players plus one (1) goalkeeper – i.e. 6 Vs. 6.  In U10 and younger divisions, this will be six (6) field players plus one (1) goalkeeper – i.e. 7 Vs. 7. 

 

4. The minimum number of players to start a game is four (4).  A team with insufficient players after five (5) minutes from the scheduled game time will forfeit the game.  The referee, at his discretion, may allow additional time for players to arrive. 

 

A team with insufficient players may pick up players registered with XL Soccer World, only if agreeable with the opposing team. 

 

Any Team fielding non-registered players without prior permission from XL Soccer World will be subject to forfeit.

 

5. Game times will be two (2) twenty-three minute halves.  A two (2) minute break will be allowed at half time.

6. All players must wear indoor shoes or sneakers.  No turf shoes, molded cleats or studded cleats will be allowed. 

 

7. Shin guards are mandatory for all ages and skill levels.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Failure to comply with this rule during the game will result in a two (2) minute penalty for the individual in violation.  The player will not be allowed to resume play until they comply with this rule. 

 

8. In case of conflict of uniform color, the home team will be responsible for changing.

 

9. The home team is responsible for the game ball.

 

10. Only team players and up to three (3) coaches are allowed on the player’s side during the games. 

 

 

RULES:

 

1. Two (2) minute penalty/yellow card: the player is sent off the field fro two minutes or until a goal is scored.  Two minute infringements are slide tackling, boarding, rough play, verbal and abusive language and dissent. 

 

2. Five (5) minute penalty/red cards: There is a mandatory five (5) minute penalty for red card offenses.  No player will be allowed to enter the field as a replacement until the five minutes are over. 

 

Red-carded players will be suspended for the next game.  A player receiving two red cards will be suspended for the next season with the possible expulsion from the facility. 

 

3. The home team will kick off the game. 

 

4. On kick-off, the ball may be played forward or backward. 

 

5. All kicks are direct except the kick-off. 

 

6. When a free kick or a kick-off is being taken, the defending team must be at least three (3) yards from the ball.  More than one warning will result in a two-minute penalty. 

 

7. The offside rule is NOT in effect. 

 

8. No slide tackling is allowed.  Infringement will result in a direct free kick and two (2) minute penalty. 

 

9. Slide tackling is legal by the goalkeeper only and must be initiated from within the penalty area.  Outside the penalty box, the goalkeeper may not slide tackle or use his or her body illegally.  Violations will result in a direct free kick for the opposing team from the point of the foul. 

 

10. Free substitution is allowed on the fly as the game is in progress.  The player must be off the field before the substitute comes in.  Infringements will result in a two-minute penalty and a direct free kick.
    
11. Team standings will be based on the following point system:

 

WIN:       3 points

 TIE:        1 point

 LOSS:    0 point

 

              Ties in standing will be broken by:

 

1.      Head to head results

2.      Most wins

3.      Goal differential

4.      Most goals scored

5.      Least goals scored against

 

12. Forfeit games will be treated as a 4-0 win.

 

13. Protests will not be allowed on a referee’s decision.  NOTE: the referees at XL Soccer World do the very best they can.  Due to the nature of the game, speed of the game, angles, etc., they will miss some calls.  It’s inevitable.  They do not need any verbal or physical abuse from the players, coaches, or fans.  Please do not complain to the concession staff about the referee’s decision.  Constructive comments will be handled by the Office Staff weekdays at 859-2997.

14. Players may only play for one team per division.  Offending teams will receive a forfeit.  This rule cannot be applied retrospectively, and therefore must be resolved before the end of the game with the referee.

 

15. Coed teams must field one (1) female player at all times, or one (1) male player over 50 years old.  Infringement will mean that the team will play a player down for the length of the game. 

 

16. If the ball gets jammed or lodged between players against the boards, the referee may award a drop ball at his discretion.

17. Red line violations: kicking the ball over two red lines in the air, without touching a player, the field, or the boards.  Results in a direct free kick for the opposing team.  The kick will be played from the offensive red line at the white dot. 

 

18. End line netting:
    1. Defensive player kicks the ball over the tall boards – results in a red line kick from the white dot for the opposing team. 
    2. Offensive player kicks the ball over the tall boards – results in a goal kick.

 

19. Side netting: the player who kicks the ball into the net over the short boards.  Results in a direct kick for the opposing team to be taken three (3) feet from the boards nearest the point of contact.

20. Top netting: 
    1. Defender kicks the ball to the top netting in the offensive third - results in a direct free kick for the other team on the red line at the white dot.
    2. Offender kicks the ball to the top netting in the offensive third – results in a goal kick for the other team. 
    3. Player kicks the ball to the top netting in the middle of the field – results in a direct free kick below the point of contact for the opposing team. 

 

21. A goalkeeper may only retain possession of the ball with for a period of five (5) seconds.  Violation will result in a direct free kick outside the penalty box.

 

22. XL Soccer World facility rules are posted throughout the building.  If you cannot follow these rules, you will be asked to leave.

 

The concession staff is there for the purpose of serving refreshments to our clients, taking registrations and payments.  Any complaints regarding schedules, the result of a game, referees, etc must be taken up with the Office Staff.  Pease call the office weekdays at 859-2997
